God’s love is present!

“Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope. Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:21-23

Experiencing God’s love and receiving the comfort it is intended to bring depends on our believing the truth about God’s love and His full control in the working of our lives as revealed to us in the scriptures. Often we cannot see or sense God’s sovereign love exercised on our behalf. We may feel victims of random events, subject to injustices and calamities that have no rational explanation. At these times, we must take our stand by faith on the assurances of God’s love given to us in the scriptures (2 Cor.5:7).

We cannot be cut off from God’s sight and He is never limited in His ability to help us. Nevertheless, we can cut ourselves off from Him when we allow doubt and unbelief to gain a foothold in our hearts. Psalms 31:22 Isaiah 49:14-15. We depend upon the truths of God’s nature to carry us through “dark” times. Lamentations 3:19-24.

God’s Love for us is present in “all things” Rom 8:28,32. Blessings, in the form of peace and prosperity, are proof of His love, John 14:27.

However, we mistakenly look for tokens of God’s love in happiness alone. Discipline, in the form of adversity, is also proof of His love. Note this from Hebrews 12:5-11

(5)  And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. (6)  For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” (7)  It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? (8)  If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. (9)  Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? (10)  For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. (11)  For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. (esv)

A frequent expression of God’s nature is “unfailing love” Psalm 32:10 God has promised that his love would not fail Isaiah 54:10 While we have grief in our lives, we can be assured of God’s love for us (Lam. 3:32-33)

God wants us to be aware of his presence, Isaiah 43:2. God shares our grief, Isaiah 63:9 Acts 9:4-5. God gives us comfort, 2 Cor 1:5-6. In every situation God is with us, nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus 8:39.

In Christ Jesus our Lord!

God’s love for us is constant, when we become a changed creature that is obeying the gospel of Jesus Christ; there is nothing that can separate God’s love for us and from us. Yes, it is true that God loved us while we were aliens without the blood of Christ. That is the very reason He sent His son into the world, John.3:16-17; Luke 19:10.

If we remain aliens to Him because of disobedience there will come a day when God’s love will no longer remain with us. Judgment will come and we will be judged by God to be righteous or unrighteous. The righteous will enter into the heavenly home built for those saints who became obedient to God through Christ Jesus. Hell awaits those that did not. There is a mighty gulf separating God’s love from the unrighteous. Once judgment occurs there can be no repentance, no begging for a little bit longer it will be final and complete.

Therefore, the question is this, Are you, (am I) in a correct relationship with God so that I can be covered by His unimaginable, all-encompassing love even into the Day of Judgment? I do not want to be separated for eternity from the home prepared for me. I must, in all things, conform to God’s will denying my own will and desire to rule my life.
